WARNING TO THE READER

This WARNING is very important. Be sure to read this carefully.

OurBasicText™ Prepublication Manuscript: A line-by-line comparison with the later editions to page 181" is intended to be a study aid for alcoholics who have recovered and are interested in the history of the book, Alcoholics Anonymous. For the alcoholic, recovery is a matter of life and death. It must be taken very seriously. This book must not be used by newcomers (people who are newly sober) without the approval and direct supervision of their sponsors.

If you are a member of A.A. and don’t have a sponsor, do not use or copy this book until you have a sponsor to talk to about it. There is an A.A. pamphlet called “Questions and Answers on Sponsorship” that can be helpful in finding a sponsor.

If you aren't an A.A. member but you think you have a problem with alcohol and want help or would just like more information about A.A., you can call the number for Alcoholics Anonymous in your local phone book. If there is no listing, you can visit the A.A. website at:  www.aa.org  or you can write to: Alcoholics Anonymous, Box 459, Grand Central Station, New York, NY 10163 USA

This book must not be used by any person who is a minor (or any other person whose status is similar to that of a minor) without the permission of his or her parent or guardian.

It is not a substitute for the latest edition of the book Alcoholics Anonymous. If you don't have one, we strongly suggest that you get one and read it. This book contains errors and omissions. The authors are not professional writers and do not claim any special expertise in writing this kind of study aid.

Because all of the book Alcoholics Anonymous ® is under copyright protection outside of the U.S.A., this book must not be copied or used outside of the United States of America.

You must read and follow all the "Terms of Use" which follow.

The laws of the United States and other countries give us certain legal rights, all of which we retain. However, we feel that a simple request that each person take care not to change this book without consulting us is probably all that's needed.

However, we live in a real world, with real and sometimes serious legal consequences, so we must also require the following:
